25 years of coaching artists to find their voice, creative
identity and vision
Monica Suder has worked with the international arts
community as a creative coach, career coach and consultant for over 25 years. She brings to
her multi-cultural coaching practice many more years as a top photography professional in
the U.S.
Suder collaborates with her clients via phone and internet to plan and refine visual concepts, create strong websites, develop artist statements, biographies, even to brainstorming compelling titles for their works.
The Golden Age of Photography in New York City
During her long career in
photography (Magnum Photos, Time-Life, Rolling Stone, and other national
magazines), Suder enjoyed the last years of a Golden Age of Photography in New York
City, "where everything was possible and money was plenty." She worked
with, and learned from, legendary photographers and artists such as Richard Avedon,
Andre Kertesz, Arnold Newman, Peter Beard, Lee Friedlander, Diane Arbus, Ernst
Haas, as well as some of the last, grand old Life Magazine Photography Masters.
Sharing a wealth of knowledge, insights and experience - workshops, lectures,
reviews
Suder has led workshops, taught graduate students in San Francisco
and has been a guest lecturer at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. For
years she has been a portfolio reviewer for the Rencontres at Arles in the South of
France, as well as the Palm Springs Photo Festival, American Photographic
Artists in NYC, and The Meeting Place (Fotofest) in Houston, Texas.
A unique international perspective
After studying anthropology at the New
School of Social Research in New York City, Suder travelled the world extensively. She is a
lifelong student of art, creativity and the human condition. She pursued a growing interest
in psychology, which led her to the works of Carl G. Jung and the mythology of Joseph
Campbell, in addition to her keen interest in tribal arts and culture, film, theatre,
literature and spiritual philosophies.
Suder, daughter of a Bohemian actress, studied in Lausanne, Switzerland and London, England. She graduated from the Coaches Training Institute in San Rafael, California in 1999. She works with her clients in English, French and German and divides her time between the USA, France and Germany. Her lectures and workshops explore Creative Identity.
